Every year in late September I gather about a dozen milkweed seed pods and let them dry out in a cool dark shelf in my garage.
During those archery trips when the wind seems dead calm but you know wind currents are still active in your location they are ideal to pinpoint wind direction.
You could be in a tree-stand, or ground set up. Air currents respond differently at first and last light.
Release a few of these indicators to let them float away on any breeze.

Stored in a small plastic bag in your vest they might just help you avoid that buck’s sensitive nose from busting you!
