The Spring Fishing & Boat Show and The Spring Hunting Show

Affordable Family Day Weekend Fun at The Spring Fishing & Boat and Hunting Show

Don’t let this Ontario winter cold snap dampen your enjoyment of the great outdoors. On Family Day Weekend, February 17 – 20, the Spring Fishing & Boat Show and the Spring Hunting Show are returning to the International Centre located in Mississauga, Ontario.  These “shows for enthusiasts” are guaranteed to bring you the best in outdoor gear, boats and tackle together with information and instruction from many experienced and respected anglers and hunters in their respective fields. It’s also the perfect place for anglers, hunters and all outdoor enthusiasts to stock up on gear for the upcoming season as well as get involved in “hands-on” activities that are sure to excite and entertain your entire family.
“The Spring Fishing & Boat Show and its sister show, The Spring Hunting Show, are the premier outdoor heritage sports shows in Ontario.  Free parking and reasonable admission, make an affordable and entertaining excursion for the whole family and a great place to visit on the Family Day Weekend” says Show Manager Andrew Pallotta. “We will have hundreds of exhibitors selling the latest fishing, boating and hunting gear. In addition, both shows offer great educational forums for kids and adults alike to learn from professional anglers and outdoorsmen at our many seminars and demonstrations.”
“And we can’t forget the kids on the Family Day Weekend. They will have the time of their lives with a large number of free kid-friendly activities being offered” says Pallotta.  “There’s free trout fishing at the Fishing Hole where kids can experience the thrill of catching their first fish.  The Ontario Bass Federation Nation (OBFN) will be hosting their CastingKids program where experienced anglers will teach the kids the basics of casting, pitching and flipping.  Izaak Walton will host free fly tying lessons, our Field Dog arena and breeders area is sure to entertain and much, much more.”
While browsing the extensive show floor for new gear, you can also see some thrilling attractions. Back by popular demand as a feature attraction is the MegaTank.  More than just a giant aquarium, the MegaTank offers an exciting weekend of programming including a full schedule of celebrities, new product reviews and professional angling demonstrations.
Are you a bass angler looking to put more bass in the live well? If so, then you don’t want to miss the Suffix Stage where professional anglers from the Competitive Sport Fishing League (C.S.F.L) will be hosting panel discussions comparing their techniques, gear and tricks of the trade for successfully landing more fish.  It’s a great opportunity for you to interact and learn from the nation’s premier professional bass anglers.
Caught the bug for fly-fishing? The show’s Fly Fishing School will feature fly fishermen offering continuous fly casting instruction at a casting pond right on the show floor along with fly tying techniques and other useful information related to fly fishing.  In addition, the show is presenting several short and feature films from the International Fly Fishing Film Festival (IF4) that showcase the passion, lifestyle and culture of this fast growing sport.
The Spring Hunting Show has a lot to offer hunters. You will be able to see and handle the new hunting gear as well as talk to our field specialists who sell gear, guide excursions and own lodges. Noted hunting experts will lead hunting and game calling seminars throughout the four days of the show.  The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) will be offering their Turkey Hunting Course on Saturday Feb 18 for those interested in getting their license. There is also an archery lane and Field Dog arena ensuring lots of hands on action in the Spring Hunting Show.
The Spring Fishing & Boat Show and the Spring Hunting Show run on the Family Day Weekend, February 17 to 20, 2012 at the International Centre, conveniently located near the Toronto International Airport.
