2008 Gobbler Season Expanded

A press release today by the MNR stated;

Additional opportunities to hunt spring Gobblers in Ontario have been expanded.

The new spring seasons are now in place in Wildlife Management Units 45, 53 and 56. These units are located on St. Joseph’s Island and in the Bracebridge and Minden areas .

About 4,400 wild turkeys were released beginning in 1984 at 275 sites across the province as part of the effort to restore this bird.   There are now over 70,000 wild turkeys in Ontario.   http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/hunting/turkey/2008_spring_turkey_WMUs_ENGLISH.pdf
