PRESS RELEASE

On September 27th and 28th the Canadian Professional Anglers Association (CPAA) will host the BIG Jim McLaughlin Showdown out of Kingston, Ontario. This Pro/am event will run in support of Jim’s battle with cancer. This event will also be honouring our Canadian Forces.

For details on the event, please click  http://www.fishcpaa.com/big_jim_showdown.cfm  to open and download the four documents:

Big Jim McLaughlin is a legend within the Canadian fishing industry. Jim has dedicated his life to his passions of fishing and the outdoors as a leader, competitor, educator, pro staffer and ambassador of sport fishing. In the last year Jim has waged his own battle fighting cancer, which has caused both emotional and financial strain on his family.

The CPAA along with his many friends and colleagues are running special events to provide financial assistance. Supporting Big Jim was the initiative for the CPAA to organize and run this tournament.

Kingston, Ontario has always been a big hit with tournament anglers because of the beauty, diversity and abundance of big largemouth and smallmouth bass.

As Kingston and Lake Ontario became the front runner for our tournament location the idea of including the Canadian Military arose.

With the hopes of honoring and saying thank you to those who have protected our country abroad and at home. In our own way we wanted to recognize the Canadian Military and personnel offering a group of  women and men a chance to enjoy a day on the lake with many of the finest Canadian professional anglers, including the likes of Bob Izumi, Dave Mercer, Dave Chong, Doug Brownridge, Peter Savoia and many more top pros.

There is a buzz on the CFB Kingston base with thirty military personnel joining the pro’s participating in the tournament. The Friday nights angler meeting will be at the JR’s Mess on the base with a Meet & Greet between the pro anglers and the kids and families of the base.  The weigh-in shows at Portsmouth Harbour will be Saturday 3:30 pm and Sunday 3:00 pm. Don’t miss the CPAA Autograph Alley at the CPAA tent both days.

The Canadian Professional Anglers Association would like to thank our sponsors and supporters especially Shimano Canada, Bassmania CSFL, Element 21, Helen and Patrick Chow, Strike Zone Baits, Bass Magnet Lures, Kingston Canadian Tire, Kingston Swiss Chalets and Pure Fishing.
