John Kerr’s final OUTDOOR COLUMN in Toronto SUN

John Kerr’s final Outdoor Column for the Toronto Sun was published yesterday.

After 27 years of weekly wisdom for Ontario’s anglers and hunters John’s outdoor column has ended due to Toronto Sun’s budget cuts in this economic downturn.

Knowing John he didn’t write for the money but for his love of the outdoors.

Typical of the information requested by the SUN’s readers, both rural and urban desires, needs and wishes his column filled a need.

Sad to say it is the close of an era for another outdoor writer in mainstream media.

The concrete towers, paved streets and manicured lawns are about as natural as it gets in Toronto but like many readers I live closer to nature to hunt and fish.

John is now the Editor-in-Chief with Ontario Out Of Doors magazine.

He has been with OOD since the early 1980s .

It was recently announced that the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters have purchased Ontario’s premier outdoor magazine.

The majority of the editorial staff will be moving northward to Peterborough to continue publishing as before.

Additional opportunities to hunt and fish locally will certainly provide top notch articles for those involved.

I know John, Ray,Tamas and the rest of the writing staff will continue to produce the best outdoor magazine in Ontario.

John’s Toronto Sun outdoor column will be missed indeed by many readers, both rural and urban. If you would like to read his last article check the Toronto Sun Dec 4th edition or email me.

I look forward to reading about John’s upcoming fishing and hunting trips in Ontario OUT OF DOORS magazine in 2009.
