Bass Tournament History is Made with

New Canadian Record of 30.35lbs

Ottawa, Ontario – Professional anglers Charles Sim and Nigel Touhey made

Canadian bass tournament history this past weekend by weighing in an

incredible 30.35lb bag of five bass. On September 26th, during a “Ripple”

tournament put on by fishing enthusiast website,

Sim and Touhey broke the previous record of 29.90lbs registered on Ontario’s Lake

Simcoe by nearly half a pound. Their bag was anchored by a gargantuan

specimen that tipped the scale at a whopping 7.15 lbs.

The historic event took place on Lake St. Francis near Lancaster, Ontario. Lake St.

Francis is part of the St. Lawrence Seaway and has been steadily producing

notable tournament weights in recent years. With the ever increasing water

clarity and the influx of round gobies, the watershed has become a thriving

environment for colossal smallmouths.

With hundreds of tournament days under

his belt and dozens of seminar presentations, Sim exclaimed, “This was

easily the most exciting day of fishing I’ve ever had. When you’re tossing back

five pounders because they’re too small, you know you’re having a dream day!

Having won numerous top tournaments and no stranger to the competitive

circuit, Touhey also commented, “It was a crazy day! We just kept recalculating

the weights we had written down, amazed at the total every time. That

7.15lber is the biggest smallmouth bass I’ve every boated- FC
