Pheasants Forever HHH Chapter members and supporters released over 850 young pheasants on July 24thin the Hamilton-Wentworth and surrounding area farmlands.
Proven release methods on Manitoulin Island with five- six week old birds has been successful in transplanting the pheasants into suitable habitat where they have a greater chance of survival and will revert to wild birds in a short time.
Most of the release sites have planted food plots, ground cover previously done at the ownerâ€™s expense. Badenoch Archery, The Dundas Valley Longbeards Conservation Club, Hummason, Silverdale Sports Centre along with individuals donated funds, land and volunteers to deliver and release the young pheasants to no shooting areas.
Pheasants Forever HHH Chapter President Jim Marini with the first of fifty-seven crates containing 855 young pheasants to be released in the Hamilton-Wentworth & surrounding farmlands where they have a greater percentage of survival and reverting to wild birds.
