Tweed Man Fined $1,500 For Illegal Deer Hunting

A Tweed man has been fined $1,500

His hunting privileges were revoked for one year for illegally shooting a deer.

Ronald Abrams, 59, pleaded guilty to the offences of shooting from a right of way and trespassing to hunt. Abrams’ firearm was seized. It will be returned once all fines have been paid. Charges against a second person were withdrawn.

A Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer from Peterborough District investigated after receiving information from the Ontario Provincial Police in Smiths Falls. The incident that led to the charges took place along Greenwood Road in the Municipality of Tweed on November 3, 2009.

Justice of the Peace Ernie Parsons heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville, on July 20, 2010.
