SMALL TOWN HOSPITALITY FOR A NATIONAL CONFERENCE!
On May 29, 30, and 31 prominent outdoor writers from across Canada will converge on the towns of Fergus and Elora for the annual national conference, AGM, and Awards presentations of the Outdoor Writers of Canada.
This event – typically held at large hotels in major cities such as Victoria, Edmonton, Montreal, or even Thunder Bay – confirms that Elora & Fergus has truly become a “go to†destination for major events and offers many unique conferencing ideas. According to OWC spokesperson Lloyd Fridenburg the OWC was attracted to the area by the many outdoor activities and writing opportunities that we have to offer including our Upper Grand brown trout fishery which is known as one of the premier brown trout fisheries in all of North America. OWC members will participate in a variety of events including fly-fishing, zip lining, kayaking, hiking, and some will learn to drive a race horse.
With outstanding assistance from the Grand River Conservation Authority, Friends of the Grand, and our many local B&Bs, along with Grand River Raceway, who will host the meetings and banquets, this is sure to be a memorable event.
You’re welcome to meet the writers at the Elora Gorge Park pavilion at noon on Friday May 30 where they will meet with local dignitaries and representatives from the GRCA, following their morning field trips.
