Upland Game GunDogs Association Now In Canada

The Upland Gundog Association (UGA) has grown within the United States over the past two years, beginning with events held in the Midwest (IL, IA, and WI) and last year expanding to Virginia and Georgia. The next move is to bring this upland hunt test venue to Canada (“UGA Canada”). UGA Canada will be headed up by UGA Staff Member Josh Robinson, co-owner and operator of Vielseg Kennels. Josh is a professional gun dog trainer, German Shorthair Pointer breeder and is very active in both dog shows and hunt tests.

“Josh is the perfect representative for this expansion. He is a true professional with a passion for educating people about our sport, and keeping hunt tests true to their intended purpose; to appreciate our dogs and enjoy the fellowship of people with a common interest”, said Mike Moncada, UGA Vice President.

The first UGA Canada event was scheduled for July 26, 2014 at Ruffwood Game Farm in Cayuga, Ontario but was rescheduled due to concerns of heat. The event is now being held on August 30, 2014 at Ruffwood.

“Canada just makes sense for us”, said Ryan Eder, UGA President. “As a whole, Canada is very rich in outdoors (hunting and fishing) tradition and values, and I think our venue can bring a great experience to the large mass of bird dog owners, dog trainers and bird hunters that reside there”.

About the Upland Gundog Association

The Upland Gundog Association (UGA) was founded in 2012 originally as the Upland Retriever Association. The idea was to create an upland hunt test venue for retrievers as there were very limited choices of venues to participate in. Shortly after, the company shifted to an all sporting breed organization by adding a pointing division for both the hunt tests and the Gundog Open Challenge. Over the past two years the UGA has really taken shape as an all-around dog training organization, dedicated to helping people get their bird dogs to the highest level possible in the field. The UGA offers annual membership, training seminars and educational workshops, youth events and education, hunt tests for pointers and flushers, Gundog Open Challenge and even shed hunt tests.
